Mid to Senior FF&E Interior Designer

We are seeking a Mid to Senior FF&E Designer to join our studio. A highly capable,confident professional with a refined design sensibility, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to lead FF&E work across multiple residential projects from concept through to final installation.

This role is suited to someone with five to eight years of experience in high end residential
interiors or equivalent work within boutique hospitality projects where authenticity, craftsmanship, and design integrity were non-negotiable. You will be responsible for delivering well resolved, beautifully considered FF&E outcomes with accountability for both the creative direction and executional detail.

Our firm works collaboratively across architecture, interior architecture, interior design, and decor. Each project is shaped by interdisciplinary input and delivered through a process that prioritises clarity, quality, and design cohesion.

We are looking for a designer who takes full ownership of their work. Someone who is
thoughtful, structured, and uncompromising when it comes to detail and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
 
Design Leadership
  • Lead the FF&E direction across private residential projects in alignment with
    architectural and interior architectural intent
  • Develop concept boards, sample trays, and presentation decks that are clear,
    tailored, and design driven
  • Curate and specify all furniture, lighting, finishes, soft furnishings, art, and
    accessories with a refined point of view
Client Engagement
  • Present FF&E schemes to clients with professionalism and confidence
  • Manage and respond to client feedback while maintaining the integrity of the
    design
  • Build lasting client relationships through attentive communication and
    considered service
Project and Procurement Oversight
  • Manage the complete FF&E scope from design development through
    procurement and installation
  • Prepare detailed documentation including specifications, schedules, and budget
    trackers
  • Coordinate with the procurement team on pricing, lead times, supplier
    communications, and delivery
  • Oversee installations, resolve issues on site, and ensure a cohesive final result
    Team Collaboration and Mentorship
Team Collaboration and Mentorship
  • Work closely with architects, interior architects, and decorators to ensure seamless
    integration
  • Liaise with suppliers, joiners, upholsterers, and makers to achieve high quality
    outcomes
  • Mentor junior designers and uphold the studio’s standards across all FF&E outputs
Quality Control
  • Review and approve all samples, custom detailing, and shop drawings
  • Ensure all elements meet functional, aesthetic, and quality benchmarks
  • Monitor site installations and address FF&E related issues as they arise
Candidate Requirements
  • Five to eight years of experience in FF&E for high end residential or boutique scale
    hospitality projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage FF&E work from concept through installation
  • Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong knowledge of custom furniture development and production processes
  • Well-connected across local and international suppliers and artisans
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident presenting to clients and managing complex project scopes
  • Driver’s licence and availability to attend project sites as needed

Senior Interior Designer / Team Leader

As the Senior Designer/Team Leader, the primary objective is to lead and oversee the department's activities to ensure exceptional interior design and decoration services are provided, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
 
1. Design Planning and Execution:
  • Lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of interior decoration projects, ensuring alignment with client objectives, timelines, and budget constraints
  • Develop design concepts, mood boards, and presentations to effectively communicate ideas to clients and team members
  • Oversee the selection of materials, furnishings, and accessories, ensuring they meet quality standards and design specifications and budget
2. Client Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships based on trust, communication, and exceptional service
  • Conduct client consultations to understand their needs, preferences, and vision for their spaces, and provide expert advice and recommendations
  • Collaborate closely with clients throughout the design process, soliciting feedback, addressing concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with the final results
3. Project Coordination and Execution:
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, overseeing all aspects from concept to completion
  • Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and suppliers to procure materials, furnishings, and services as needed
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and budgets, proactively identifying and addressing any issues or challenges that may arise
  • Planning of Delivery Schedules: Create a well-organized delivery schedule. Ensure efficient allocation of resources and timely deliveries
  • To ensure the smooth installation of projects, your presence on site is required over this period, or that a representative from our office is coordinated by you, to be on site on your behalf
  • Document all proforma and additional items used on site clearly, maintaining detailed records, including photographs thereof
  • Gather all information from site for the Close Out report for the client. This will include detailed site photographs of each room
4. Quality Assurance and Design Standards:
  • Uphold high standards of design excellence, craftsmanship, and attention to detail in all projects undertaken by the department
  • Implement quality assurance processes and protocols to continuously improve the department's design output and client satisfaction
5. Trend Analysis and Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of current design trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, and incorporate relevant innovations into departmental operations
  • Encourage a culture of creativity, exploration, and experimentation within the team, fostering opportunities for professional growth and development
6. Budget Management and Financial Oversight:
  • Monitor project budgets and expenses, ensuring adherence to financial targets and efficient resource allocation
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with clients to establish project briefs, budgets, and timelines
  • Develop cost estimates, project programs, and design concepts for client approval
  • Facilitate design workshops with suppliers to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Delegate and oversee administrative tasks, including design documentation and supplier coordination
  • Conduct final inspections to ensure design specifications are met before project completion.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering their professional development

In this role of Senior Designer/Team Leader, accountability is crucial. Each aspect of the outlined roles and responsibilities requires a high level of ownership and responsibility. Accountability ensures that design projects are delivered with excellence, clients' needs are met, and the department maintains its standards of quality and innovation.
