Lulu Maison Interiors is a small interior design studio based in Hout Bay. We specialise in high end residential design with some hospitality and design from concept to completion.
We work very closely with our clients and work as a close - knit team with a collaborative approach with our clients and suppliers. We take pride in varying design styles through our projects thus delivering unique highly conceptualised designs.
We are looking for a confident, talented and highly organized junior to mid-level interior designer to join our small team.
The role is ideal for someone who has a ‘can do ‘attitude, is able to work under pressure, whose skills are well rounded and who relishes working as a team player and as part of a small team.
The role will require the following responsibilities, requirements and skills:
Reside in Cape Town, South Africa and have SA citizenship or permanent residence status.
Have your own car and be able to commute to our Hout Bay offices as well as going to site meetings to check measure and communicate with site contractors and suppliers around Cape Town and surrounds as well as occasionally delivering and collecting samples.
Have a 3 year Bachelors degree or other tertiary qualification in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
Have a minimum of 1 years work experience in a similar role working with primarily high end residential projects in an interior design practice.
Have excellent skills in design and design execution and be able to produce space planning layouts, detailed designs and technical drawings on both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SketchUp & Enscape) with ability to produce detailed and precise lighting and electrical layouts and joinery drawings.
Have strong PowerPoint and Photoshop skills for putting together mood boards.
Have a HIGH level of proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, Enscape and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
Have confidence communicating with suppliers, contractors and clients.
Be able to work enthusiastically as a collaborative team player assisting and working alongside our senior designers on projects as well as independently.
Be flexible and organised enough to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
Work on general administrative tasks to assist the senior designers including taking and sending minutes, documentation and file management, answering the phone and booking in supplier meetings along with managing our in-house sample library.
Work calmly under pressure and be detail driven to produce design and administrative project work quickly and efficiently in a reasonable time period.
Be able to provide contactable references.
Be available for at least two interviews in our offices including a practical test.
Hours required – Fulltime – Mon – Fri 9am -5pm in our Hout Bay offices
